Right job, wrong job

What it is — and what it isn’t

Use it for

  • Camera lenses and glass filters
  • Lenses and reflectors in moving lights and standard fixtures
  • Dichroic filters, mirrors and fine glass optics
  • Fingerprints, smudges and light residue

Don’t use it for

  • Hot lamps, lenses or fixtures — let them cool first
  • Camera sensors — use a dedicated sensor-cleaning method
  • Plastic gels and filters — Rosco lists glass optics; check with the filter maker first
  • Spraying into the electronics of a fixture or lens body
How to use

Getting the best result

  1. Switch off fixtures and let lenses and lamps cool.
  2. Blow loose dust and grit off the surface first so it doesn’t scratch.
  3. Apply a small amount of cleaner to a Rosco Lens Tissue (or lightly to the glass).
  4. Wipe gently from the centre outwards.
  5. Finish with a fresh, dry tissue to remove any remaining streaks.

FAQs

Common questions

Why choose the drip bottle over the spray?

The drip bottle gives controlled drops onto a tissue and fits in a pocket or camera bag. The 234 ml spray suits lighting crews cleaning lots of fixtures.

Is Rosco Lens Cleaner safe on coated lenses?

Rosco says it won’t damage most UV protective coatings when used properly. If you’re unsure about a coating, check the lens maker’s advice and test first.

Will it leave streaks?

Rosco says it leaves no streaks or residue — it contains no ammonia, detergents, glycerin or oily additives.

Can I use it on a camera sensor?

No. Use a dedicated sensor-cleaning method for sensors.

Check the equipment maker’s cleaning advice and test on a small area first if you’re unsure about a lens coating. Information is from Rosco product data and is a guide only.
