Choosing the correct gobo size is critical for clean projection, sharp focus and safe operation of your lighting fixture. This page is a practical gobo size chart for lighting designers, theatres, venues, hire companies and AV technicians across Australia & New Zealand.

How to use this gobo size chart

1. Find your fixture brand and model. Scroll to the brand section (for example, Chauvet, ETC, Selecon, Martin, Robe, Showtec, Neo Framer) and locate your specific model.
2. Note the outside diameter and image area. The Outside Diameter is the physical size of the gobo blank (glass or steel). The Max Image Area is the largest usable image that will project cleanly.
3. Choose material: Rosco steel or glass gobo. Use steel gobos for simple breakups and patterns; use glass gobos for logos, multi-colour artwork, gradients or photographic detail.

Many fixtures use “standard” letter sizes. Always confirm against your fixture manual, but these common sizes are a good starting point when specifying gobos.
