Choosing a dance floor

Three questions decide it. Is the floor staying put or travelling. What is being danced on it. And what is underneath.

A permanent dance studio flooring install wants Adagio for the weight and grip. A touring production wants Adagio Tour or Duètte, because a floor that gets rolled and unrolled weekly needs to be built for it. A home or rehearsal space wants a Marley Mat kit rather than a bolt of vinyl dance floor you then have to cut yourself.

Ballet, contemporary and tap all want different amounts of slip. Tell us what is being danced and we will tell you which surface suits, rather than selling you the heaviest thing in the catalogue.

If you have been quoted Tarkett or Harlequin and want to compare, ask us for the equivalent. It is a fair comparison to make and we would rather you made it properly.

A note on painting

Do not paint vinyl dance flooring. Marley is designed to flex and a hard floor coating will crack and lift. If the goal is a black floor, lay a black vinyl floor over the top or paint the timber subfloor before the vinyl goes down.
