CRC White Lithium Grease (5037) — long-life spray grease
A lithium-based grease in a spray can. It goes on easily and leaves a tough, off-white film that resists heat and water, with rust and oxidation inhibitors to protect metal parts that slide, turn and hinge.

Grease where a spray can reach
CRC 5037 gives you the lasting protection of a grease with the reach of an aerosol — ideal for metal-to-metal contact that a light oil won’t last on.
- Long grease life for light-duty lubrication
- Tough, high-viscosity film
- Resists heat and water wash-off
- Rust and oxidation inhibitors protect metal
- Off-white colour shows where it’s been applied
- Sprays into hard-to-reach spots
Hinges, tracks and moving hardware
Hinges & latches
Long-lasting lubrication for door, flat and road-case hinges and latches.
Tracks & guide rails
CRC lists overhead door tracks, guide rails and slide conveyors — the same idea applies to sliding scenery hardware.
Chains, gears & cables
Open gears, chains, cables and cams that need grease rather than oil.
Bearings
Break-in lubrication for bearings, per CRC’s recommendations.
Corrosion protection
General protection for exposed metal parts in storage or damp conditions.
Workshop machinery
Pistons, cams and moving parts on light workshop equipment.
What it is — and what it isn’t
Use it for
- Metal-to-metal contact: hinges, latches, tracks, rails
- Open gears, chains, cables and cams
- Light-duty applications needing long grease life
- Protecting metal from rust and moisture
Don’t use it for
- Live (energised) electrical equipment
- Mixing with greases of a different base — clean old grease out first
- Heavy-duty or high-load bearings beyond light duty
- Places where an off-white grease mark would be visible on set
Getting the best result
- Shake the can well before use.
- Clean off old or incompatible grease with a solvent first — don’t mix grease types.
- Spray a light, even coat onto the moving parts.
- Work the part through its movement to spread the grease.
- Wipe away excess to avoid collecting dust.

Common questions
What is white lithium grease used for?
For lubricating and protecting metal parts that slide, hinge or turn — hinges, latches, tracks, guide rails, chains, cables and open gears — where you need a grease that lasts longer than a spray oil.
Is CRC 5037 waterproof?
It forms a film that resists water and heat, and contains rust inhibitors. It’s water-resistant protection, not a sealant.
Can I use it on plastic?
CRC positions it for metal parts. For rubber, plastic and nylon, CRC 2094 silicone is the better choice.
White lithium grease vs 5-56?
5-56 is a thin penetrant that frees and protects. 5037 is a grease that stays put on moving metal parts for longer.
Can I mix it with other grease?
No. CRC advises against mixing greases of different base types. Clean out the old grease with a solvent before applying.
Always read the product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Flammable aerosol unless stated; use with good ventilation, keep away from ignition sources and never use on live (energised) equipment. Test on a small hidden area first — results depend on the surface, conditions and application. Specifications are from CRC technical data and are a guide only.
