Luminous surface vs. a line of light.

Both build light into the architecture. But Custom LitePad and RoscoLED Tape solve different jobs: one turns a whole surface into an even glow, the other draws a clean line of light along an edge. Choosing well starts with the shape of the light you want.

The short version

Surface, or line?

Custom LitePad is an edge-lit panel: it emits an even, diffuse glow from its whole face, in a very shallow depth, cut to almost any shape. Reach for it when you want a surface to glow uniformly — a backlit ceiling, a luminous wall or feature, a panel with no visible source and no hotspots.

RoscoLED Tape is high-CRI linear light: a consistent, controllable line you run through coves, reveals and joinery. Reach for it when you want to graze a surface, draw an edge, or wash from a concealed channel — the light of the line, not of the plane.

They’re often used together: LitePad for the luminous surfaces, tape for the linear details. CFATS can help you decide which does each job in your scheme.
