Dark Asset (2023)

For the action thriller Dark Asset, DP Eduardo Ramirez lit fight scenes by hanging a DMG MINI at one end and an SL1 at the other, both warm against a cool ambient, to give movement contrast and keep faces cleanly exposed. A single SL1 was powerful enough to key three actors with varied skin tones at once, and he used the myMIX app to colour-match a practical monitor to the SL1 on the fly.

“The Producer”

For an 80s-styled interrogation scene, DP Tanner Short used a single SL1 MIX as fill, accent and in-shot practical — praising its “chameleon-like” versatility and the pleasing skin tones it gave on RED at 4300K (high R9). The lightweight, app-controlled fixture kept stands out of the anamorphic frame and needed only minor grading.

Commercial · DASH + MINI + SL1

Palacio de Hierro — “Festival de Belleza”

DP Alberto Ulloa built this beauty commercial around DMG in tight locations: a wall-to-wall MINI MIX with SnapGrid for soft front light, an SL1 MIX SnapBag backlight, an SL1 book-light for a warm cosmetic feel, and a DASH as eyelight and hidden uplight — controlled remotely via the myMIX app.

Battery-run light inside moving cars

Across features and series — including Paris chase sequences on “3 Days To Kill” (DP Thierry Arbogast, gaffer Gregory Fromentin) and the crime series “Salamander” — slim SL1 and MINI fixtures ran on V-mount batteries inside cars, dimming to nearly 1% with almost no green/magenta shift for believable night driving light.
